Dr. Karyn Harvey
Trauma Informed Care
Dr. Harvey has worked as a clinician in the field of intellectual disabilities for over 25 years. She has a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of Maryland. She has published articles about therapeutic interventions with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), workbooks for individuals with IDD and two books. She consults with various state and individual agencies throughout the United States and Canada and trains staff, administrators and clinicians on trauma-informed care. Dr. Harvey currently serves as The Park Avenue Group’s Director of Training and Program Development.

Author, professor, counseling psychologist, former college wrestling coach of the year, husband, father, and reformed class clown, Dr. Bird is a nationally recognized speaker on issues of positive psychology, character development , bullying and has spoken to over 100,000 educators, parents, and students nationwide. He speaks to audiences nationwide on how to tap into our character. Dr. Bird examines our most common reactions to stress and provides skills to deal with tension and change in today’s high pressure world. He also offers small changes in our day-to-day behaviors that will allow us to reduce stress and deal with the most difficult situations.
